Mass Robbery or Abduction? We Were in Some Physical Dangers Too, But...

We can't reveal how exactly - or approximately - we helped prevent acts of serious crimes against a group of young men from an elite institution in Metro Manila but please read:

The Informal Power Structure in the Philippines & Its Regions

Accounts Straight from the Trenches
What the mainstream media hardly cover. What the real scores are out there sans the looking glasses of ideological and special-interest groups, the marketing guys of the government, the ordinary Filipinos who are either too polite or too cynical to objectively articulate, what many wish they'd known all along after learning the hard ways as to navigating through our society and why we have some of the worst taxi drivers in Asia?

___

You don't expect smooth sailing to break through the political and structural barriers here, even if you think your venture, bid or proposal satisfies all the myriad requirements and documentations, and even if you think you have a good cash budget to satisfy expectations...

Who gets what in the Philippines? And how?

...

So how is it here? Who controls what? Who can influence or dictate upon those who make the decisions? What causes the burst of adrenalin, well, of dopamine in the minds of many key decision-makers in the government? How do you navigate...

Many of these things are common even in advanced and incorrupt countries, but in terms of scale and proportion, how do we compare...

We're so sure, you'll find most of the typical Filipinos very easy to like and even love...

Above ground and underwater, there's an endless variety of natural beauty to explore in this country...

This is a tropical country so endowed with megabiodiversity and natural resources, populated by happy and otherwise very resilient people (resilience among most poor people here in fact is an acquired survival trait in a disaster-prone country, in a divided society plagued by severe corruption & the greatest income inequality among the world's top 50 economies, in terms of total wealth and level of control of our industries between the 100 wealthiest families and the rest of the population)...

The Philippines possess a great potential not only for many things great and noble, but unfortunately, for a lot of troubles too: disruptive mass protests and revolutions...mass murders due to power struggles between major political dynasties, silent eco-cide in remote parts of the country not easily accessible from the centers of media markets, major sea disasters, man-induced calamities, environmental disasters partly due to...

Again, in what scale compared to other countries of the same level of...

(This blog is under construction. The blog posts are to be carefully composed.)

We are having second thoughts as to whether or not to publish this. It is possible that this piece instead goes only to a handful of disinterested readers. We have many considerations to ponder, among many others: the impact on our persons, the chances of us mis-appreciating the facts or wrongly painting the real picture, its potential use for the bad guys and groups.

For one to have a good (working) level of appreciation of the country, and effectively navigating your way to maximizing your returns or results here, it takes an in-depth understanding of our culture (especially regional ones), our politics, our society, our government & its informal systems, our most influential public officials and civil society leaders (and what drove them or their decision-making in the past), the major religions in the country & its political interests, political campaigns and our elections, and so many more.

Compared to the top relevant academic researchers of our top universities, our immersion and exposure - in the different strata of our society, the social and political groups, the regions and the key cities, the cultural and ethnic groups and their unique expressions, the different terrains in the country, the regional & local political environments, the accumulation of unfiltered objective & subjective data and facts that reveal the real aspirations of the different groups of people beneath what their political leaders articulate - ours is vast, relatively very intensive and extensive.

We didn't just casually and closely observed it all, in fact we lived in the realities we are to tell you about. We don't get a cent of government money, neither of any cause-oriented group or civil society leaders to influence us and how we see things, how and what we think. Our thinking is not tainted by an obsession to an ideology or fanaticism in religious beliefs. Our opinions are not anchored on beliefs not open to dissenting opinions. We don't have material possessions and careers as encumbrances to think independently & with neutrality. But we do have sets of values, beliefs and principles as non-negotiable bottomlines.

We see to it we stress-test our reasoning or logic. We are objective in trying to interpret or see through the private and public pronouncements of relevant personalities. And the decisions and actions of even what to others are rather predictable officials.

We don't have wealth or special interests to protect. We are conscious about doubting our very own forming opinions and perception of things. We extensively read and talk about a wide range of literature on some topics we are to write about.

We do have emotions and feelings, normal human beings - and you can detect traces of the influences of our present plight in how we express our opinions. We do have much stake in, for example, the continuity of the fast pace of progress and development of our society in many fronts. Why? In the near future...
